Last Call at Town Square Tap

COMMUNITY INVITED TO BID FAREWELL & CELEBRATE NEXT PHASE

It’s closing time for Town Square Tap, an indoor-outdoor taproom located next to Town Square Community Center’s Mill Pond Terrace in downtown Green Lake. The Tap’s final days in operation are Friday, Sept. 27, 3-10 p.m. and all day Saturday, Sept. 28, with live music by Seth Brown Duo on Friday from 7-9 p.m.

“The Tap served as more than a bar,” said Kris Anderson, Town Square’s Executive Director. “People came together to build the Tap and the proceeds have supported Town Square’s programming. As a non-profit, the Tap helped our bottom line, but it has also been a gathering place connecting dozens of talented musicians with thousands of community supporters of all ages in the heart of downtown each summer season.”

“The Mill Pond Terrace remains part of Town Square and continues to be open for public and private events,” said Anderson. “Turning the parking lot into this beautiful space was a huge community effort and is home to Party on the Pond, weddings, corporate functions, and new this year was the Dartford Historical Society’s Green Lake Stories series. Everyone is welcome to the space and we look forward to these events continuing.”

Town Square Tap was reimagined from a garage connected to Green Lake County’s former courthouse building which Town Square still owns and operates. The renovation coincided with the Mill Pond Terrace project.

When asked what the future holds for the taproom – located on the west corner of the Terrace – Anderson stated that it will be up to the new owner, who acquired the bar as part of the sale of the former safety building in 2023 and leased it back to Town Square for the 2024 season. It’s possible it will reopen under a new name and management.

“The purpose of the sale of the safety building was to right-size our operations and expand on what Town Square does best,” said Anderson. “That is our focus.”

“We want to thank everyone who supported the Tap over the years and hope you’ll come out to raise a final glass with us during Harvest Fest weekend.”
