A group of seasoned and carefully-selected investment and business professionals, the Town Square Investment Committee has been behind developing Town Square’s endowment charter and investment policy to provide structure and guidance in the use and investment of funds. Meet the members:
Dean Sotter
Dean is the President and a founding partner of Grandview Partners and has responsibility for all accounting and reporting, as well as overseeing investor relations. Prior to forming Grandview, Dean was Chief Financial Officer and a principal at Greenfield which he joined in 1999. Dean was a member of Greenfield’s investment and compliance committees. Prior to joining Greenfield, Dean was President and Chief Operating Officer of Heitman/PRA Securities Advisors LLC. During his six years at Heitman/PRA his responsibilities included portfolio management, investment research, client relations and compliance. Before joining Heitman/PRA, Dean was a Managing Director of JMB Institutional Realty Corporation, where his duties included investor relations. Prior to joining JMB Realty, he was a Senior Tax Consultant in the Chicago office of Price Waterhouse.
Dean earned a BS from Indiana University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
Jean Regan
Jean is the CEO and Chairman of the Board of TranzAct. She directs the operational and financial activities including the Information Technology, Customer Service, Operations, and Human Resources departments. As such, she leads their strategic initiatives, oversees new product development, and handles the financial aspects of the corporation.
Prior to joining TranzAct, Jean was the Executive Vice President for a privately held lumber and hardware operation, overseeing operations, finance, and accounting. For the nine years prior, she was a Senior Manager at the big four public accounting firm KPMG.
She has a B.S. in Accounting with high honors from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and a Masters of Management Degree with a Minor in Finance from Northwestern University.
Timothy MacKenzie
Tim is the Managing Director of Merit Capital, a private equity firm with approximately $3 billion of assets. Prior to Merit, Tim was a Senior Vice President of Fiduciary Capital, a publicly raised mezzanine fund located in Milwaukee. He previously held management positions at Prudential Capital Corporation in both the Dallas and Milwaukee regional offices and with RepublicBank Dallas. Tim specializes in domestic and multi-national investing, leverage buyouts and management recapitalizations.
Tim received his MBA from the University of Illinois with a concentration in finance and a BA from Northwestern University in 1980 with a major in economics. He earned the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst in 1990.
Mark Furlong
Mark is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of BMO Harris Bank, N.A., a role he held following the merger of Marshall & Ilsley Corporation into BMO Financial Group in 2011, until his retirement in 2015. He joined Marshall & Ilsley Corporation in 2001 as Chief Financial Officer, was elected President in 2004, Chief Executive Officer in 2007 and Chairman in 2010.
His prior experience includes service as Chief Financial Officer of Old Kent Financial Corp., as First Vice President, Corporate Development for H.F. Ahmanson & Company and as audit partner for Deloitte & Touche LLP.
He currently is serving as a Director of Kforce Inc, Heska Corporation and Antares Capital. Mark has also been active in numerous civic and charitable activities. He is currently a board member of Common Ground Foundation and HomeRising and was a former Chair of both Chicago United and LEAP Innovations. He was a board member of the Chicago Board of\ Education and Chicago Teachers Pension Fund both from 2016-2019 and has been actively engaged on boards of many other organizations in Chicago and Milwaukee.
Mary Cyrier
Mary is the Administrator for Freedom Physical Therapy Services responsible for business and financial analytics, contracts, marketing, revenue cycle management, and human resources. She joined Freedom in 2010. She also is the owner of Cyrier Consulting, created in 2006, focused on strategic planning, executive coaching, executive search, succession planning, change management and leadership development. Prior to this, Mary was Vice President at Schwarz Pharma for 11 years - a German based pharmaceutical corporation. During this time, Schwarz grew from revenue of $200 million to $1.5 billion.
Mary has also worked in other industries including software development, financial services and data conversion. Her responsibilities have included human resources, investor relations, public relations and facilities management. She has been a member of Golden Angels Investors since 2006.
Mary has a Business Administration degree from Marquette University and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
