After School Studio will allow student artists and creative makers to end their day engrossed in the creative process. Each session will center on a general theme with several project prompts, but students will be given the chance to design, plan, and play with a wide array of art materials. Along with standard painting, drawing, and collage techniques, there will be an emphasis on learning creative ways to repurpose basic recycled and found objects. This is very much a process-based, student-centered workshop, so student artists should come prepared to use their creative thinking caps and their imaginations.
*Attendees must bring an additional $5 for supplies.

About the Instructor
Laura grew up in a family of artists and is now raising two little ones of her own. The creative process has always been central to her life and this continues to be so in terms of her teaching philosophy. Laura values the power of creativity to connect us on all levels--to ourselves, to our friends/families, and to our communities. Her workshops are process-based and very student centered. They offer students the opportunity to truly tap into their creativity as they play with materials to design and plan their own projects. Laura’s role is to guide and coach students along the way. This model not only allows all students to find success at their level, but it also builds confidence and fosters important skills such as problem-solving, planning, communication, and collaboration...and it’s just simply FUN.
