Kate Salas Named Executive Director of Green Lake Renewal
Kate Salas has been named Executive Director of Green Lake Renewal, the community revitalization organization that operates the Town Square Community Center, Green Lake Fitness 24/7 and Green Lake Kitchens.
Ms. Salas joined the organization in 2016 as director of operations, responsible for organizing and streamlining day-to-day activities at the multi-faceted organization. Prior to joining Green Lake Renewal, she served in a variety of positions at The Diedrich Agency, most recently as Commercial Lines Service Agent and Process Improvement Lead.
In her new role, she will be responsible for leading the organization’s initiatives, working closely with Green Lake Renewal’s executive committee board of directors.
In addition, Green Lake Renewal elected new officers of its board. Fran Hill will move from staff position to a volunteer board seat, serving as board President. Nick Vandervelde will serve as board vice president, next in line to assume the role of president. Phil Burkart will serve as Treasurer and Evelyn Galster will serve as secretary.
“When Town Square and Downtown Green Lake Renewal Project merged to form Green Lake Renewal in 2015, one of our major goals was long-term sustainability for our young organizations,” said Mary Jo Johnson, who has served as the group’s president for nine years. “Kate Salas and Nick Vandervelde have been two of our brightest rising stars. We are so pleased that they have agreed to help take Green Lake Renewal to the next level.”
Ms. Johnson, as one of the original founders of Downtown Green Lake Renewal Project, has continued to lead as president of Green Lake Renewal. She will now hold the office of past president, a newly-created seat on Green Lake Renewal’s Executive Committee.
