Green Lake Renewal Names Executive Committee

As part of its organizational growth, the Green Lake Renewal Board of Directors has elected a new Executive Committee to provide leadership for the next term.

Fran Hill, co-founder of the Town Square Community Center, will serve as president. Ms. Hill, with more than 35 years of business and non-profit experience, will be responsible for setting policy and working with the board on strategic planning, financial planning, development and evaluating the organization’s performance in achieving its mission.

Nick Vandervelde, entrepreneur with a finance background, will serve as vice president. A second-term Green Lake Renewal Board member, Mr. Vandervelde will be working closely with Executive Director Kate Salas to develop the organization’s entrepreneurship-support initiatives, particularly as they relate to new/growing business financing.

Phil Burkart, co-founder of the Town Square Community center, will serve as treasurer, overseeing the management and reporting of the organization’s finances and acting as the chief financial officer for the board. Mr. Burkart has been an integral part of the development of Town Square, and is currently leading the Mill Pond Terrace project team.

Evelyn Galster, administrator of the Freeland Foundation, will serve as secretary, overseeing legal documentation, records, bylaws, policies and practices. Ms. Galster has been an active Green Lake Renewal board member for two years, and is also working to promote the Green Lake area’s first major film festival, Freeland Film Festival, taking place this June and headquartered at Town Square.

Mary-Jo Johnson, co-founder of Green Lake Renewal, will serve as past president. Since founding the organization in 2009 with Jo Ellen Madden and Mary Rowley, Ms. Johnson has served as president, guiding the organization’s growth, including its merger with Town Square in 2015. As past president, she will continue to offer perspective, leadership and advice to the group.
