Town Square Community Center is excited to bring back Camp Chocolate, a most delicious summer program and learning experience for children kindergarten through 8th grade. Three sessions will be held for separate age groups: June 11 through 14 for grades k-2, June 18 through 21 for grades 3-5, and June 25 through 28 for grades 6-8. The camp will run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday. The price for the program including materials is $30 per child.

Larry Gundrum, who has served on Green Lake Renewal’s board of directors for the past two years, has been named executive director of Green Lake Renewal’s Town Square Community Center. He will be responsible for planning, executing and leading all Town Square initiatives, including programming, events, and project development, as well as overseeing Town Square’s Green Lake Kitchens, Green Lake Fitness and Mill Pond Terrace, the new outdoor event venue opening this summer on the north side of Town Square.

Colin Sytsma will be showing clips from his latest film, Stolen Apes, on Saturday, April 27 at the Town Square Community Center. The program will start at 1:00 pm and run for 60-90 minutes. This program is free and open to the public.

Shae Stangl has joined the non-profit organization Green Lake Renewal as Manager of Green Lake Fitness. Ms. Stangl will be working closely with the Executive Director, Marketing Manager and Front Office Manager to oversee all aspects of the fitness center.

Over 50 members and friends of the Green Lake community showed support at the annual Renew Crew cocktail party, hosted by Green Lake Renewal Board Member Jo Ellen Madden and Ambassador Joan Lloyd, at the Midtown Lounge above Guth’s Candy in Downtown Green Lake on Friday, June 1st.

Now in its third year, Green Lake Renewal’s White Hot Party, one of the most popular events of the Green Lake area’s summer season, is set to take place on Saturday, July 14 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm at the home of Joe and Tina Pregont on Green Lake’s Sugarloaf Point.

Fran Hill, co-founder of the Town Square Community Center, will serve as president. Nick Vandervelde, entrepreneur with a background in finance, will serve as vice president. Phil Burkart, co-founder of the Town Square Community center, will serve as treasurer. Evelyn Galster, administrator of the Freeland Foundation, will serve as secretary. Mary-Jo Johnson, co-founder of Green Lake Renewal, will serve as past president.

During January and February, Green Lake Renewal’s Mill Pond Terrace Task Force met with numerous local contractors, seeking advice on how to best value engineer the project. The team is currently setting priorities and creating a timeline for completion. The project is expected to break ground in May, weather permitting.
