Meet the Grant Team
This year, hard at work is yet another NEW team of Town Square Volunteers: The Grant Team.
With our staff and board busy, busy, busy arranging and putting together great community events for us, these smart and dedicated volunteers are out there finding support in the form of grants to support Town Square’s mission.
We asked them what makes them tick:
“I have always felt the importance of making a contribution and Town Square is so very important to this community. I joined the grant team to help fuel the mission of this wonderful organization.”
Mary-Jo Johnson and her husband, Scott, have lived in Green Lake for 35 years as the owners of the McConnell Inn, the charming bed and breakfast right at the edge of our downtown. Mary-Jo’s efforts on behalf of the community include volunteering at Green Lake School and Federated Church, organizing Concerts in the Park and Harvest Fest, and serving as a founding member of Downtown Green Lake Renewal and a board member of Town Square.

Tom Vaubel, a 31-year resident of Green Lake, brings to the team insight from his 35-year career working in higher education.
“Being a business in the community that has donated time and money to Town Square, I was looking and hoping for another way to help. Being a part of the Grant Team seemed like the perfect fit. I have learned so much from the other members in such a short time.”
Kristen Hermanson has been with Fortifi Bank for 14 years and has managed branches in multiple locations over those years. She currently has managed the Green Lake location for the past five years.
“I know the value of receiving grants providing non-private funds to help Town Square Community Center fulfill its mission for Green Lake residents and visitors.”
Jo Ellen Madden was a co-founder of the Downtown Green Lake Renewal Project and currently serves as board secretary for Town Square. She is an avid volunteer, supporter, and cheerleader for the entire Green Lake community.
