This July, visitors to Town Square Community Center can experience the beauty of Green Lake's protected natural spaces through the artwork of local artist Pat Dobrinska. The exhibition, displayed throughout the month in the Town Square lobby gallery at 492 Hill Street in Green Lake, features paintings inspired by lands preserved by the Green Lake Conservancy and reflects a lifelong connection to the landscapes that have shaped Dobrinska's artistic journey.
For Dobrinska, the inspiration behind the collection stretches back decades. As a child attending camp on Green Lake and later exploring the area's wetlands, trails, waterways, and woodlands on horseback, by kayak, and on foot, she developed a deep appreciation for the natural beauty that continues to inspire her work today.
“My relationship with Green Lake began as a child,” said Dobrinska. “The wonder of these places drew me to them simply because of their beauty. Today I still visit them, and it's that inspiration and love that I try to capture in my paintings. I hope these works inspire viewers to see, appreciate, and cherish the beautiful Conservancy lands.”
The exhibition is the result of a partnership between Dobrinska and the Green Lake Conservancy, using art as a way to celebrate and share the landscapes that have been protected for future generations. Through a variety of styles and media, the paintings highlight familiar natural areas throughout the Green Lake region while encouraging viewers to reflect on the importance of conservation and stewardship.
The public is also invited to attend Land, Legacy & Art on Friday, July 10, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Town Square Community Center. Guests can view Dobrinska's artwork in the lobby gallery before gathering in the Ballroom for light refreshments and music by Peter Brush, with artist remarks beginning at 5:00 p.m. Drinks will be available for purchase in the Jury Room Bar. The event is free and open to the public.
The July exhibition can be viewed during regular Town Square business hours throughout the month. Additional information about the Green Lake Conservancy and its conservation efforts can be found at greenlakeconservancy.org.
