TOWN SQUARE TURNS EIGHT
You have been BUSY!
Eight years ago this week, an event took place that would change Green Lake for the better. On Saturday, August 11, 2012, Town Square Community Center officially opened its doors.
In some ways, it seems like Town Square has been around forever. It's hard to imagine Green Lake without it. In other ways, it seems like just yesterday.
Why? Through Town Square, you have added so much to the fabric of Green Lake in such a short time.
In the spring of 2012, the former Green Lake County Courthouse campus was an abandoned, historic property sitting right smack dab in the middle of Green Lake. Ouch! Nothing says “we give up” better than a high-profile abandoned property.
But boldly and courageously—and without a significant benefactor—you stepped forward to say, “we can do this.” Let the doubters doubt. Let the naysayers say nay. And now, your hard work, generosity, and community spirit have shown that we have the power to make a real, tangible impact on Green Lake.
We call it The Power of Community.
Here are a few of the things you've done so far:
You've inspired a new CAN DO spirit in Green Lake: This is perhaps the most important thing you've done. There are more Places. More People. More Activities. But what's making the real difference is that we're all working together like never before. It is so inspiring to see!
Whew!
But if we know you, you're just getting started. There's so much more to do: Great ideas that come to Town Square every single day. Things we absolutely need to do. This community center needs to keep GOING and GROWING. And with you at our side, we know it will. Together, two years from now, we'll be celebrating TEN YEARS of Town Square. And we're going to do it with a bang!
