Getting Fit Together

Why it works

Just a week after the return of in-person group yoga classes to Town Square, students are sharing why there’s nothing like the real thing and how being part of a community makes a big difference for them.

You can join Carol Skivington’s class every Saturday, Tuesday, and Thursday by visiting her page, Free Spirit Yoga.

Motivation

An in-class is such a plus, especially now. The instructor is there to explain and demonstrate the yoga positions and this helps with motivation and energy level.
An added benefit is making new acquaintances, which would not happen with a virtual class. Virtual just isn’t the same as the real thing.

Doing it Right

Darin and I have decided to join and attend Yoga in person together at our community Town Square for a few reasons: We love our community and we’re thrilled we didn’t have to leave town to attend a yoga class to better our health, mind, and mood. This is Darin’s first class, but I have done Yoga before but I wanted him to learn the right way with an in-person instructor. We also were happy to hear that class size was limited and safety measures were taken with wearing masks and the studio large enough to distance from others. Carol is supportive and encouraging during class and we are enjoying it very much. Town Square Community Center is also a place to meet new people and see neighbors from Green Lake. We are blessed to live here.

Accountability

I think it’s important to do an in-person exercise for the social aspect and to feel a sense of normalcy. I prefer in-person because it is more motivating and holds me a more accountable table.

Being Part of a Community

I think doing yoga together with a group is great because you feel like you are a part of a community. I do yoga from videos but enjoy it more live with an instructor. I did Bikram yoga for years in Key West. We became almost like a family. You are all in it together.
...I have been doing yoga for a few months with Carol. She is very committed to her practice and I admire that. She is always upbeat and passionate about her teaching and practice.
I use Zoom now because I live in Lomira, but will attend some classes at Town Square soon because I do like interacting with the other yogis. You all have a great spot. It is a beautiful space for yoga. Lucky to have Carol as a teacher!
