Phil & Linda Burkart

Got an idea? Doesn’t everyone? Phil and Linda Burkart have ideas every hour of every day. But there’s a difference between them and other “idea people”...Every hour of every day, they’re also working to make those ideas into realities.

Walk through the doors of Town Square on any day of the week, and you’ll probably see Phil and Linda here. Their most recent IDEA: There’s gold in that thar stuff!

Several years ago, Linda came up with the IDEA for Hangers Resale Therapy, Town Square’s upscale resale boutique selling new and gently-used ladies’ clothing and accessories. Every week, she is here at Town Square, sorting, steaming, tagging, and merchandising donated items. And today, Hangers annual sales add more than $12,000 to help Town Square.

Around the time that Town Square opened, Phil came up with the IDEA of holding online auctions through Wisconsin Surplus Auctions. First, he sold off items left in the vacated courthouse buildings. And it’s gone on from there, with several auctions each year selling donated sporting goods, camping and fishing equipment, bicycles, tools, and small household appliances and accessories. Just last week, Phil brought in more than $4,000 to support Town Square through one of these significant events. Is it a lot of work? Yes. But this IDEA man is willing to do whatever it takes.

Next up for Phil and Linda: They’re joining into Garage Sale Weekend on April 30 and May 1 with all sorts of things to buy right on the lawn of Town Square.

It’s living proof: Everyone else’s stuff is far more interesting than your own. If you have something to donate, please contact Phil

PS - Let’s not forget to mention that Phil and Linda run the monthly Town Square Bingo games and are key players in maintaining the Town Square grounds….right down to weeding, mulching, and mowing the lawn!
