About Michael J. Cooney
After more than 40 years as a TV commercial producer/director and trade publication editor and photographer, Michael is now in celebrating his “encore career” as a photographer, teacher, and writer, as well as continuing his Rotary and community service.
Long a proponent of “Advocacy Photography” he continues seeking to produce images that touch people and make a difference. His community involvement includes serving as a photographer for the Oshkosh United Way, Day By Day Warming Shelter, Boys and Girls Club, Humans of Oshkosh and Wisconsin Public Radio. Currently he is chair of the Oshkosh Farmers Market Board and manager of the markets SNAP (Food Stamp) incentive program.
Currently he is the photographer for the Oshkosh Herald and the Oshkosh photographer for the Green Bay Catholic Compass and photography instructor at Fox Valley Technical College – Oshkosh. Michael’s work has appeared in a number of international travel books and magazines.
