The Green Lake Bird and Nature Club will be hosting a SPECIAL PRESENTATION called, “Snowy Owls Visit Wisconsin” by raptor expert, Gene Jacobs on Tuesday evening, March 12th at 6 pm. This event will be held at Town Square in Downtown Green Lake and is FREE and open to the public. Spread the word. Bring a friend!

Gene Jacobs is a Raptor Biologist with Raptor Services and a part-time instructor for UW-Stevens Point Outreach Program. He has spent the past 45 years studying Wisconsin raptors where he banded over 17,000 individuals. He will be sharing many interesting facts about Snowy Owls and what these birds are doing during their visit to Wisconsin. Learn about their winter habitat and what causes irruptions. He will share results from telemetry monitoring and discuss the airport issues often talked about on the news.

Mr. Jacobs has received the Outstanding Contributing Professional Award from University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point, and a Lifetime Achievement Award for Citizen-Based Monitoring from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. He is the Director of the Linwood Springs Research Station near Stevens Point.

As a SPECIAL TREAT, he will be bringing a LIVE Great Horned Owl named “Sassy” for viewing at the end of the program.

The Green Lake Bird and Nature Club meets the second Tuesday of the month (Sept-May) at 6 pm on the second floor in Town Square, Downtown Green Lake. We welcome anyone with an interest in birds and nature!
