In February, the Town Square Community Center lobby will feature work from photographer Jessica Joy Schumacher. You can meet Jessica personally at the artist reception scheduled for Friday, February 4, 5 to 6 p.m.
Jessica writes: “I look through the viewfinder, I scan what I see. I stop. That’s it. That’s the shot! I can see it before I even click the shutter. Snap! I hear it, I see it, I capture it.”
My father was the first person to put a camera in my hand some 25 years ago. I think my creativity comes from him. High school is when this passion really took off. There I found so much creativity with black and white film and processing those images in a darkroom. After high school, I started working for a studio right when film was becoming obsolete and digital was all the new rage. I was trained as a portrait photographer, families, children, high school seniors and so much more.
To this day I am still a portrait photographer. Besides The Photographic Art of Joy, I also co-own SLS Photography, LLC with my awesome business partner Beth. If you are in need of portraits check us out at slsphotographyllc.com.
They say “do what you love,” and so I have. I capture images that bring me JOY. I take the beauty of the world and I freeze it in time so I can hold it in my hand. My name is Jessica Joy Schumacher. Not only do I capture what brings me JOY but it is also in my name. I hope you enjoy my photographic art enough to hold it in your hands and have it bring you JOY.
