Green Lake Bird & Nature Club
Flammulated Owls
featuring Kristen Baranowski
Feb 13 | 6pm | Club Room
The Green Lake Bird and Nature Club will be hosting a SPECIAL PRESENTATION next Tuesday evening, JANUARY 9th at 6pm about the fascinating life cycle of Flammulated Owls, given by our very own Green Lake Native, Kristen Baranowski. In fact, you might have purchased a brat from her over the many summers she sold them in front of her dad’s business “North Bay Sport & Liquor Inc.” in downtown Green Lake.
Ms. Baranowski was born and raised in Green Lake and graduated from Green Lake High School in 2016. She studied at UW-La Crosse, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with an emphasis on Environmental Science, graduating in May of 2020. With COVID-19 on the rise, the pandemic made it challenging to find employment in her field. She decided to continue her education and pursued her Master’s degree in Biology focusing on the Flammulated Owls of Northern Utah. She spent 12 weeks in the field working with these very interesting small owls. In addition to studying their life history, her work concentrated on the foraging ecology and space use of Flammulated Owls during the breeding season.
With many adventures to share and several captivating photos, we hope to give Kristen a nice hometown reception—so please mark your calendars and plan to come!
This program will take place in the CLUB ROOM at the back of Town Square in downtown Green Lake (492 Hill Street) and will be FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Enter at the rear of the building, from off of Water Street. There is ample parking near the doorway, with the room being wheelchair accessible. Bring a snack to share if you wish, beverages will be available for purchase.
