Green Lake's First Annual Street Bash
GREEN LAKE – A new end-of-summer tradition is launching in downtown Green Lake this year. The first annual Green Lake Community Street Bash is a free street party featuring live music, food trucks, lawn games and drinks.
The rain-or-shine, tented event will take place overlooking the Green Lake Mill Pond on Water Street on Saturday, September 30. Food trucks, street games and a cash bar will begin at 6:00 PM, with live music by the Davidson County Band from 7:00 – 10:00 PM. The Davidson County Band is a six-piece, high-energy band from Chicago whose repertoire spans new country to well-known classics.
Mike and Jill Havey, local philanthropists, are sponsoring the community-scale party to benefit local nonprofit organizations.
“We were planning on throwing a party for our friends, and then realized we had an opportunity to expand the event to benefit the community and organizations we care deeply about,” said Mike Havey.
The admission-free Street Bash will collect free-will donations to benefit three non-profit organizations: Green Lake Association, Green Lake Renewal and Green Lake American Legion Post 306.
The Green Lake Association works to improve Big Green Lake’s water quality through conservation projects, research and outreach. Green Lake Renewal operates the Town Square Community Center, Green Lake Fitness 24/7 and the Green Lake Kitchens Business Incubator. The Green Lake American Legion continues to support youth and Veteran programs and, with a new building, they continue to support many of the area’s non-profit organizations.
