Boat Jam, Now Land Jam

July 11, 2019 – Green Lake, Wis.–Shoreline Boat Center of Green Lake, Wisconsin just announced that its annual lake party, Boat Jam, will have to relocate to land due to imperfect lake conditions. The event will be hosted on the originally scheduled date of Sunday, July 21, 2019 but the location has changed to the Green Lake Town Square grounds.

“It was a difficult decision to move our largest and most popular event to land,” stated Ryan Meiborg, General Manager of Shoreline Boat Center, “but given the recent announcement from the GLA, we couldn’t in good conscience invite folks in the water.”

Their announcement comes just days after the Green Lake Association (GLA) announced a growing number of potential cases of swimmer's itch, heavily concentrated in Norwegian Bay where the event was scheduled to be held. Swimmer’s itch is caused by an allergic reaction to a parasite that usually infects birds, snails, and other aquatic animals. It is not dangerous to humans and it is not contagious, but it can cause itching that is uncomfortable.

“We are committed to the boating lifestyle, our customers, and our community — we would rather change the location than disappoint by cancelling,” remarked John Meiborg, Owner of Shoreline Boat Center.

Boat Jam will be facetiously renamed Land Jam for this year’s event. The public is invited to enjoy a complimentary band from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Town Square in Green Lake. The grounds feature a tap room which will amend its hours to be open and serve the Land Jam crowd. Town Square rose to the occasion and will offer grilled burgers and brats to the land lovers. By law, no outside beverages are allowed.
