Annual Appeal: Sarah's Story
As I sit in my downtown Green Lake office, I have a front-row seat to the heart of our amazing city - Town Square Community Center.
I often wonder, what if? What if it had never been? What if there were a boarded-up building across the street? What if there were a hole in our city’s center? What if we were not all joined together with this special building filled with all the love and volunteers and children and spectacular events and music and...I could go on for days.
All these “what ifs” came dangerously close to happening, but with a lot of hard work and grit, our community came together and created something amazing. They created a 100-percent community-supported community center! This is a rare thing and it’s something we can all be proud of.
Just one example of the magic we have made together: I think of Friday afternoons, when, from my front-row seat, I see our downtown come alive like it never has before during the weekly summer farmers markets. It wows me every time, and I’m drawn over there to join in and shop and run into new and old friends.
This remarkable space is many different things to many different people of our beautiful city. To me, it’s a living, breathing being that brings life and vivacity to our town through events like Paint the Town Red 5K and supper club dinners. It brings people together from near and far to meet for a drink and conversation at Town Square Tap. It allows new and old businesses alike to prosper by helping to attract visitors and retain lifelong residents. From my looking glass, it is the heartwarming center of our home.
Please join me and my family in supporting Town Square with its annual appeal. You will not be disappointed with what your donation is supporting - a unique, beautiful part of our special place. Let’s keep it alive and well for years to come.
