Bret Steffen, a local woodworker, maker, and educator, started attending The Market at Town Square years ago with his family. He really looks forward to seeing what the variety of local vendors bring to the table each market season. From produce, jams and jellies, and handmade products, engaging with all of the vendors has partly inspired his passion for making his own pieces and growing his garden. (In fact, he was making homemade cranberry mustard during our conversation.)

Being part of a community is so important for an area like ours. Having a special location to come together, gather, help and support each other has been lost in this world and is what makes Town Square Community Center so appealing.

With the world being more fixated on their phones and doing most of their engagement through texts and social media, Bret would like everyone to take time to break away from their electronics and experience, participate, or get hands-on in the physical world.

Town Square Community Center is one of the area’s best-kept secrets. I wish people knew that there are so many opportunities for everyone to learn, share, and grow together.

After a year like 2020, Bret would like to see the community really come together at Town Square to be part of something bigger and better. He knows people feel isolated and he also misses interacting with people every day. This is why Bret will be one of the Woodworking Wednesday instructors at Town Square this year, is part of the planning committee for the new Jurassic Olympics kids event scheduled for June 12, 2021, and will help judge the Weekly "Blue Ribbon" Cooking and Baking Contest.
