IT ALL STARTED WHEN…
The Green Lake Bird Festival started in 2013, when local birding enthusiasts, led by Tom Schultz, sought to earn the designation Bird City Wisconsin for Green Lake. With the addition of the Bird Festival, Green Lake was named Bird City Wisconsin in 2014. The following January, the Green Lake Bird and Nature Club launched, with Town Square Community Center as its home. Meeting from September through May, the club attracts audiences from 60 to 100 to its meetings and presentations. The club frequently hosts field trips to nearby birding destinations and offers special presentations during the summer months. The Green Lake Bird and Nature Club facebook group has nearly 500 members.

After growing up in Wooster, Ohio, and Kewaskum and West Bend, Wisconsin, and spending summers in Green Lake...and then living in Green Lake, and then Mexico and then Texas as an adult...Carol is thrilled to be back in Green Lake. It was here in Green Lake that she would swim, water ski and horseback ride as a kid. And it was here in Green that she purchased her family's cottage when her daughter was two and remodeled it into a year-round home. Belly Dancing w/ Becky Day
New at Town Square! Join instructor Becky Day for some fun and get into shape with Belly Dancing. A great way to stay in shape, gain confidence and stay healthy no matter what your dance experience.
As one of the oldest forms of dance, the benefits of belly dance are undeniable; Belly Dancing promotes balance, strength, digestion, coordination and confidence as well as being a fun and highly expressive dance form. Belly dancing is empowering and fun, but its health benefits and rewards are highly underestimated.
It all began in 2011 when I decided to join a fitness class at the local gym. The only classes that they were offering at the time were Pilates and Zumba.
In 2016, I became a personal trainer. My main emphasis has been on nutrition but I couldn’t forget about how Pilates made me feel. I received certification to teach a class called fusion. Fusion is a mixture of yoga, Pilates, and barre. Then 2020 came… and I decided to take advantage of the downtime and take some continuing education classes and I rediscovered Pilates. Now I have added Belly Dancing to my class schedule and I hope you’ll join me and have some fun leaning this art.
Along with being certified as a personal trainer, I also have certifications in acupressure. I run a studio in Waupun for acupressure.
Classes are located in Town Square Community Center’s Studio A (unless noted otherwise).

Vegas Supper Club
If you remember when going out to dinner lasted the whole evening, you probably remember Supper Clubs. If you don’t, it’s about time you created that memory. Join your friends for a great evening out in the new Town Square ballroom as we recreate the REAL supper club experience.
During their heyday, Supper Clubs were more than a restaurant. They were a destination, where you could show up for cocktail hour and set your own pace all the way through dinner to nightclub-style entertainment.
This April, we’ve invited John Van Thiel to be our special guest for the evening. John Van Thiel of Racine, Wisconsin, brings the King to life with his remarkable Elvis voice. Whether singing an early rocker, a soulful ballad, or a hip-swiveling movie tune, John has mastered the Elvis sound so well that it just might give you goose bumps.
“It’s all about authenticity. I try to sound as close to the original as possible. It’s the little touches that make the difference. The ultimate compliment for me is when people think I’m lip-syncing.”
John’s passion for singing began at an early age by watching Elvis movies on TV, but it wasn’t until recently that he began entertaining. Encouraged by an overwhelming audience response at an amateur contest he won, John entered a national competition at a Milwaukee casino and landed third place. Now he performs throughout Wisconsin, both individually and with oldies tribute shows.
Though he prefers the younger Elvis look, John loves singing all of Elvis’ material, especially some of the lesser-known songs. He portrays the King with sincerity and reverence.

It was here in Green Lake that she would swim, water ski and horseback ride as a kid. And it was here in Green that she purchased her family's cottage when her daughter was two and remodeled it into a year-round home. Now, it's here in Green Lake that Carol will launch the next phase of her career....as a real estate agent and, at Town Square, as a YOGA INSTRUCTOR!

Yoga with Carol Skivington
Town Square is happy to tell you “Yoga is Back with Carol Skivington!”. Tuesday nights starting at 6:00pm.
Carol teaches from the hatha yoga tradition, and has studied and become certified through Wild Spirit Yoga in Tomball, Texas, with Jennifer Carmack.
Hatha yoga refers to a set of physical exercises (known as asanas or postures), and sequences of asanas, designed to align your skin, muscles, and bones. The postures are also designed to open the many channels of the body—especially the main channel, the spine—so that energy can flow freely. (yogajournal.com)
Carol’s classes incorporate breath work (pranayma), poses (asanas) and meditation with a goal of uniting strength and flexibility. Beginners as well as seasoned yoga students will feel comfortable in my classes. She teaches to all levels and she hopes that you leave her classes refreshed, revived, and more connected to your inner self!
Classes are located in Town Square Community Center’s Studio A (unless noted otherwise). Carol will offer a Zoom link to those who would prefer to do the class from the comfort of their home.

Gallery Reception Featuring Tom Schultz
Tom Schultz will be presenting his work in April at Town Square Lobby Gallery, scheduled for Friday, April 1 from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. Tom will be showing the latest installments in his ever-growing selection of bird illustrations.
Tom Schultz, a well-known artist, and avid bird enthusiast, is the co-founder of the Green Lake Bird and Nature Club and founder of the annual Green Lake Bird Fest, held annually at Town Square. His detailed illustrations have been included in many publications, including National Geographic’s Field Guide to North America’s Birds.
As an avid bird enthusiast, Mr. Schultz is heavily invested in the study and preservation of this species. “Concentrating the most important and useful information about birds into a form that is easily absorbed by the general public has always been my goal. The more people are aware of the natural world around them, the more they will be interested in seeing it preserved,” said Artist Tom Schultz.
