Bird and Nature Club
If you are fairly new to birding or interested in sharpening your birdwatching skills in preparation for the upcoming SPRING MIGRATION, keep reading because we’ve got you covered for the next 2 months with introductory birdwatching programs given by talented young speakers.
Plan to attend the Green Lake Bird and Nature Club next Tuesday evening, March 12th at 6pm when guest speaker Adam Knueppel will share his unique approach to birding. Reflecting over the last six years since he started this hobby, he will provide some basics for beginners along with insights the more advanced birders may find useful. He is also a very talented photographer and you’ll see many examples of his work during his presentation.
Raised in Fond du Lac, Adam began birding in April of 2018 after a late snowstorm brought attention to the effect it had on short distance migrants. Having been familiarized with common songbirds by his grandparents and game birds by his father, he was motivated to dig deeper. His interest escalated quickly, and he spent every bit of free time in the field or reading about birds. Surrounded by mentors willing to share years upon years of expertise, he was able to amass a strong understanding of birds in a relatively short period of time. In pursuit of more information, he earned continuing education units from Cornell University in Warbler identification. He briefly served as the Field Trip Chairperson for the Wisconsin Society for Ornithology and served on the board of directors for his local Audubon chapter. He is also a regular participant in Christmas Bird Counts and local May Day Counts. When he is not working as a self-employed carpenter, you will find him in the field accompanied by his birding partner and wife, Jasmine.
This program will take place in the BALLROOM on the second floor of Town Square located in downtown Green Lake (492 Hill Street) and is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Come through the main entrance and take the stairway to your right. Wheel chair and handicap accessibility is also available at the rear of the building with ample parking near the doorway—watch for signs directing you to the elevator.
Bring a snack to share if you wish, beverages will be available for purchase.
