October Tree Friday at the Tap

Join us tonight for music by Jay Wildner and October Tree from 7:00 - 9:00pm.

In 1983, a teenager received his first guitar as a gift. By the end of the same day, he could play along with most songs on mainstream radio. After a fun run with the Madison-area rock band "The Exchange" from 1983 - 1988, he turned down an offer from a Chicago band for a "real" job and raising a family. After a 30+ year hiatus, he appeared publicly at the urging of a friend. Now, after only a year, he has been one of the accidentally busiest musicians in central WI, having played under the stage name "October Tree" at dozens of venues across the state.

October Tree plays an eclectic list of multi-genre covers and autobiographical originals ("Remembering/Everything", "Whenever", "Paradise", etc.) that connect with the listener through soaring, emotionally-expressive vocals and sassy strings presented in a remarkably rhythmic style with the utmost authenticity of just six strings and one voice. Come, relax and enjoy An Evening with October Tree!

Beginners as well as seasoned yoga students will feel comfortable in my classes. She teaches to all levels and she hopes that you leave her classes refreshed, revived, and more connected to your inner self!

Blood Drive
Sep

Blood Drive

Town Square is hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, September 22 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Here are 10 great reasons to donate!

  1. You will get juice and cookies!

  2. It’s easy and convenient. It only takes about an hour to give whole blood.

  3. You will weigh less! One pint less than when you came in!

  4. It’s something you can spare. Most people have blood to spare, yet there is still not enough to go around.

  5. No one can ask you to do lifting. As long as you wear your bandage, you’re on reprieve. Wear it as long as you like. It’s a badge of honor!

  6. You will walk a little taller afterward. Most people feel good about themselves knowing they’ve just helped save someone’s life. You will too!

  7. You will be helping to ensure that blood is there when it’s needed. Most people don’t think they’ll ever need blood, but many do. One whole blood donation can yield up to three blood products: red cells, platelets, and plasma.

  8. You will give a gift that costs nothing but last a lifetime. Blood is something money can’t buy. it’s only something that one person can give to another.

  9. You will be someone’s hero! You may give a newborn, a child, a mother or father, a brother or a sister another chance at life. If fact, you can help save up to three lives with just one donation!

  10. It’s the right thing to do!!

For an appointment call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit:

You can save up to 15 minutes when you donate blood by using RapidPass! Visit redcrossblood.org/RapidPass for more information!

Bring a photo ID or your blood donor card, or two other forms of ID.

Paul Kiser Friday at the Tap

Join us tonight at Town Square Tap for music from Paul Kiser from 7:00pm - 9:00pm.

I was a former member of the WAMI nominated band “Lonesome Highway” for 13 years. Over the years I have enjoyed entertaining the fans that come to watch and hear me perform. I very much enjoy playing to the audience and getting them involved in my shows. After leaving the band in 2003 I joined my local church band for a number of years.

In 2017, I decided to start up a new solo act which I named “One Lane Highway.” For the past 2 years I added my friend and former band member, Tim Kottke. Tim, who is a very talented steel guitar player, has added a new dimension to the act.

Gallery Reception w/ Mark Kanitz

Mark grew up in Milwaukee but has always enjoyed and been fascinated by nature and the outdoors. He wanted to learn more about it, so he earned a degree in Wildlife Management from UW-Stevens Point. Mark was inspired by other wildlife artists’ works which gave him the motivation to try painting himself. He found his niche as a wildlife artist when he combined his hobby of shed antler hunting with painting. It’s very fulfilling for Mark to search for and find a special antler and then use his God-given talent to create a unique piece of art by painting on the antler. Adding sculpture and replication have made the possibilities endless. Mark feels very blessed by his talent and enjoys sharing it with others.

Mark now spends his days hunting, fishing, camping and painting. His passion is creating original artwork on shed antlers and other unique mediums.
Mark has won several awards for his painting including being named Wisconsin Wildlife Federation’s artist of the year eight times. He recently won the Wisconsin DNR pheasant stamp contest.
